The ghoulish pleasure of a well-told "scary story" reaches its pinnacle in "The Pillowman", Martin McDonagh's shocking, disconcerting and altogether memorable play. Set largely in an interrogation room in an unnamed totalitarian state, this black comedy follows fiction writer Katurian as he is questioned by police. The authorities suspect him of committing a series of murders that are strikingly similar to the gruesome crimes described in his short stories. Since he's published only a single story, he is Suspect No. 1. This brilliant work about storytelling and its implications won McDonagh the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Play and two Tony Awards. Now Theatre Southwest brings a riveting new production of this viciously funny and seriously disturbing tale, directed by Scott McWhirter.

Although he was born in a tiny farming town outside of Dallas and is currently based out of Austin, singer/songwriter Jimmy LaFave will always be associated with Oklahoma, where he once made his home. Deeply influenced by fellow Okie Woodie Guthrie, LaFave plays a sumptuous and delicate blend of country, folk and singer/songwriter rock that he dubs, "red dirt music." LaFave's distinctive high voice--simultaneously rich and brittle--is known not just in Austin, but all over the world.

Based on Bram Stroker's 1897 Gothic novel of the same name, Dracula is a stage production centered on a British solicitor who travels to Transylvania to help settle the estate of a count named Dracula. When the count is revealed to be a vampire, he takes the solicitor, Jonathan Harker, as a prisoner in his castle. As Dracula begins to hunt down Harker's fiance, a vampire hunter from Amsterdam intervenes and ventures into Dracula's castle to hunt him down and free his prisoner. The famed supernatural tale was first brought to the stage in 1924, and the play was a hit with American audiences, launching the career of Hungarian actor Bela Lugosi. Dracula has since been reprised in multiple stage and film versions, capturing the imaginations of audiences generation after generation.
