The flashiest (and most popular) two-stepping bar in town, you can enjoy both country and mainstream music at the Electric Cowboy. This place has character, with a crashed semi truck hanging rom the dj's booth and a neon-red-eyed bull's head watching dancers from the wall. The dance floor is spacious and inviting, with plenty of surrounding booths to rest in after two stepping and line dancing. The banquet room can be rented out for events. Thursday and Saturday nights are usually the most popular.
While this place does not exactly qualify as a cafe (it is located in a Presbyterian church), it does serve coffee and snacks. But the main attraction here is the music. From mellow folk music, to upbeat pop tunes, to modern Christian songs, variety is a sure thing. Each Friday night, the social room of this church is transformed into a pseudo-coffee house. The crowd is primarily young, but not limited to the Christian faith. The church does everything they can to create an open, family-friendly environment.
With live nightly music and a mouth-watering menu of delectable American cuisine, its easy to see how Afterthought Bistro & Bar is a local favorite. This popular establishment serves hearty bistro cuisine with brunch offered on the weekends. The bar portion of Afterthought offers simple bar bites, beer, wine and specialty cocktails. Visit the website to find out more about the live music and see when your favorite local band will be playing next.
Cajun cooking does not get any better than in this "deliberately dingy" restaurant with splintering walls and a melange of odd items along the walls. Famous for their oysters, the rest of the spicy food is noteworthy too. Enjoy Zydeco music as you peel and eat large juicy shrimp, or try a huge po' boy sandwich filled with shrimp, fish or chicken. The crowd is diverse and thick on weekends. Happy hour is daily from 3p-6:30p.
