»Flogging Molly

November 28, 2014 8:30 PM

After listening to Flogging Molly, one gets the impression that the band was spawned from the back ally pubs of Ireland. The band's penchant for mixing Celtic instrumentation with punk rock stylings makes the group's music sound like what an extremely pissed off Irish guy would listen to when he's drinking. The band was formed in Los Angeles, though, by a bunch of Americans. Despite their cultural origins, the members of Flogging Molly make some of the best Gaelic head banging music that's perfect for getting drunk and trying to dance to.

Best-known as a founding member of Grateful Dead, Phil Lesh is a bassist from Berkeley, California who is renowned for his role as an innovative force of the electric bass. During his 30-year run with the pioneering jam band, he helped establish the San Francisco sound of the 1960s with his melodic basslines and affinity for avant-garde music.
