The Youngstown State Penguins represents the athletic programs and
intercollegiate teams of Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. An NCAA Division I member, the university competes in the Horizon League and the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The university also fields a men's ice hockey team, which is a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. Youngstown maintains a strong track and field program, with the women's squad winning multiple Horizon League championships over the years. The Youngstown Phantoms is a Junior American ice hockey team that competes in the United States Hockey League.
