The track has been operational since 1967, when it was opened as the Jefco Speedway, and has hosted some of the most prestigious events in motor racing. The asphalt oval track at this park has undergone several renovations and modifications over the years, to provide a safe and efficient racing track. For over 40 years, Road Atlanta has been North Georgia's premier destination for sports car and motorcycle racing. The 12-turn race track winds through and over the Georgia hills. Legends like Mario Andretti and even Hollywood star Paul Newman have raced at Road Atlanta, and the track has appeared in movies. A playground for the kids is located in a picnic area, and there are plenty of VIP ticket options during races. In addition to spectator events throughout the year, Road Atlanta staff will also give tours on non-race days.
