After spending some time as a member of The Pretenders, The The and Electronic as well as laying down substantial time as a sought after session guitarist, he formed Johnny Marr and the Healers in 2000. With his new band, he released Boomsland, in 2003 and went on to release work as part of Modest Mouse, The Cribs and 7 Worlds Collide throughout the 2000s. Marr finally released his own solo album, The Messenger, in 2013 but is still remembered today as the iconic guitarist and Morissey's partner from The Smiths.

Celebrated by the Guardian as "future soul-reggae-blues," Alex Clare's music definitely comes across as futuristic--not because it sounds like the future, but because the future of music just might end up sounding like his own.
