In The Mood
Tennessee TheatreApril 29, 2015 7:00 PM
604 South Gay Street
Knoxville, TN 37902
The swing and jazz ensemble In the Mood is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With an impressive instrumental repertoire that includes five saxophones, four trombones and four trumpets, the band's brass-heavy style revolves around the dance worthy music from the 1930s and 1940s. Although the band has a much younger lineup than most big bands, In the Mood is a cohesive, elegant and professional band with thousands of shows under its belt. In the Mood has played major music festivals such as Summerfest and Jazz in the Park, but are primarily seen playing weddings, corporate parties and other private events.

The Threepenny Opera
Clarence Brown TheatreApril 29, 2015 7:30 PM
Volunteer Boulevard & Andy Holt Avenue
Knoxville, TN 37996
Kurt Weill's musical genius shines in this 1928 musical. Written by Bertolt Brecht with Weill's musical score, Threepenny Opera critiques capitalist society from a Marxist view point. As the political ties between the police and the underground beggars society get twisted, so does pure love. It begs the question: can love exist at all in our society? Featuring many beautiful and now famous songs, Threepenny Opera typically proves to be a pleasure to watch.
