The ancient east-west trail along western New Mexico swanks of the renowned El Morro National Monument. A stupendous characteristic feature of this monument is a great sandstone promontory with a water pool towards its base. It was created and established in 1906 and pulls in great crowds throughout the year. The statistics for 2004 show 857,883 annual visitors to the site. The site brags of over 2000 signatures, dates, messages and petroglyphs carved by Spanish and American travelers.
The Candy Kitchen region of New Mexico is bestowed with a marvelous animal sanctuary in the form of the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. It is a stellar home to more than 60 animals. The sanctuary was opened and established in the year 1991. It pulls in visitors in great numbers throughout the year. Tourists to the site can stay overnight at the campgrounds and even help the volunteers. Guided tours in the constraint of 45 minutes to 90 minutes are available for visitors to view the animals at the sanctuary.
