    »Little River Canyon National Preserve

    The Little River Canyon National Preserve is situated on top of Lookout Mountain, near Fort Paine, Alabama. It envelops one of the longest rivers, the Little River, that flows through the mountain in northeast Alabama. It is touted as one of the cleanest and wildest waterways in the South and its highest waterfall lies at 133 feet (41 meters). The preserve offers a great deal of adventure activities to hikers. Hunting is allowed in three locations, and can be done on prior license.

    »Buck's Pocket State Park

    It is a state park on Sand Mountain in the state of Alabama. It is a secluded park spreading across 2000 acres (809 hectares) and sits in a natural pocket between chains of mountains in the Appalachian range. The park has a picnic area, campground with tables, grills, shelters, a playground, hiking trails, fishing and more. It is named after William Buck Berry, who is said to have lived in a cave there with his father for conscription during the Civil War.
