This sprawling state park is located just outside of Jackson and incorporates over 500 acres of woodlands. In addition to several miles of hiking and nature trails, the park features a public nine-hole golf course with a clubhouse and driving range, meeting rooms, a swimming pool, picnic areas, playgrounds and tennis courts. Boat rentals are available on the park's lake, and fishing is permitted in season. For real outdoorsmen, campsites are provided for both recreational vehicles and tents. The engaging, educational Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is located nearby.
For 50 years, this vibrant operation has produced theatrical events for Mississippi's young ones as well as for kids of all ages. A strictly volunteer organization, this non-profit collection of amateur enthusiasts and theater professionals is a fine example of a community coming together to provide a valuable service to the public. For each year's production, volunteers select the cast, gather props, design costumes and promote the event, which is seen by more than 10,000 children every winter.
Pearl Municipal Golf Course has been a favorite destination among golfers in Jackson since 1990. With 3 sets of tees for different skill levels, this course is open to many different golfers looking to improve their game, practice or simply have a good time.
The name is a little bit deceiving, as this full-scale entertainment Mecca is home to much more than just great golf. A driving range, comprehensive pro shop, and challenging miniature golf course are present, but many patrons come for the thrill of the quarter-mile go-cart track, or the fast-paced excitement of the variable-speed baseball and softball batting cages. If golf is the only thing on your mind, however, you can always opt for a bit of professional golf instruction, available from the pro for pretty reasonable rates.
Since its founding in 1967, this professional theater company has brought the magic of puppetry to the Jackson area. Although the focus is on children's entertainment, this art form can be appreciated by people of all ages. In fact, some of the productions are geared more toward adults than kids. The company's touring ensemble plays regular performances throughout Mississippi and the Southeast, bringing art, education and entertainment to the delight of crowds everywhere.

Established in 2012, Rampage Extreme Park is a private skate park where the entire family can have a fun time. From novices to experts, everyone can practise their flips, grinds and slides at their rails, ramps and tramps. Ensuring a safe environment, it is one of the best places for skateboarding enthusiasts in the city. The park also hosts concerts occasionally.
Renovated in 2004, The Martin Epps Track and Field Facility is right in the campus of Jackson State University. Originally called Jackson State University Track and Field, it was named after legendary Track and field coach, Martin Epps. It is a world class facility that caters to the track and field needs of the university. The facility has hosted many sports meets and is used regularly by the student athletes.
If you are looking for family fun and some relief from the hot Southern sun, head for the Rapids. Located near Ridgeland on the western shore of the Ross Barnett Reservoir, this fun park is about a 15-minute trip from downtown Jackson. Covering more than 25 acres, you will thrill to the variety of water activities provided, including swimming and wading pools, water slides and amusement rides.
