The Hive is a mainstay on Beaver Street, where most locals come for the loud music and strong drinks, however the place functions as a gallery as well. So in a nutshell, you could say the Hive is a place that foments passion for the arts, in whatever form. Every night there is a different band on stage and if you want to buy some art while you enjoy the sound, all proceeds support local talent. The music varies from punk and pop to rockabilly and thrash metal as well as everything in-between.
Walk under the shark, past the row of what looks like old brightly painted race car seats, and you're entering the party zone. This Cabo San Lucas/Puerto Vallarta/Acapulco-inspired cantina is fun and funky. It's a favorite place to drink, dine and dance any night of the week. The menu tends toward the tropical with items like Mango Chicken and Margarita Shrimp. Buckets of shrimp, huge burritos and fish and shrimp tacos are also favorites; all at reasonable prices. Live music on weekends will put you in a "fiesta" state of mind.
The quintessential bar for drinks and music, The Green Room always has superb libations and a mixture of sounds. The beer tap selection also features some local suds and the guests are mostly regulars. They have special events lined up throughout the week, like DJ nights, Ladies nights, live shows, etc. On the whole, it's a great place to head to for your weekly dose of drinks and fun.
In 1931, hunter and collector Dean Eldredge began construction on a museum to house an amazing assortment of wild animals he had preserved through taxidermy. Converted to a nightclub in 1936, the club's wildest exhibits were then the people who came to dance the night away in what has been called the world's largest log cabin. Today, party animals head to the Museum (affectionately dubbed The Zoo) for drinks, live music, and unusually up-tempo atmosphere. The after-hours extravaganza on weekends is a night-owl's favorite perch.
This oasis is tucked away in Tlaquepaque Village and specializes in innovative breakfast and luncheon fare. Among the organic and pesticide-free selections, you will find a morning quiche bar, Foccacia French Toast, Baked Brie and Artichoke Salad, "Secret" Shrimp Samba (with coconut and red curry marinated shrimp and sizzled ginger noodles) and a Twice-Baked Goat Cheese Souffle with braised figs and pecans. Diners enjoy meals in a garden setting, replete with flourishing foliage, sculptures and comfortable furnishings. The cafe features jazz music on weekends.
This upscale but casual microbrewery produces some of the state's finest lagers and ales, and now also serves wines and champagnes to a typically young clientele. To go along with the golden elixirs, choose from bar-style appetizers, sandwiches and entrees that are created to complement the brews. Pub fare is offered in its Bavarian Kitchen (open 4p-8:30p nightly). Wednesday night is ladies' night, with drink specials for female patrons. Live entertainment on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays includes mellow rock, folk and blues performances.
Chefs Andrea DiLuca and Lisa Dahl serve up some of Sedona's finest Italian fare in a restaurant that is consistently chosen as Sedona's best European cuisine. Bright red tablecloths, lattice-backed chairs and saltillo tile floors complete the Mediterranean ambiance. On weekends, jazz piano music adds a festive touch. Pastas featured here include Piatto Milanese, tender linguine with spicy Italian sausage, mushrooms, peppers, onions and peas in aglio sauce. Veal, chicken and daily seafood specials are also well prepared. House wines are also available.
A javelina is a creature similar to a wild boar - but there's certainly nothing "boar"ing about this lively, colorful cantina. Decorated in a bright Mexican motif, this restaurant is loud and filled with local charm. Choices are primarily Sonoran, with an Arizona accent. Combination plates of tacos, enchiladas and chimichangas are filling and flavorful. Lunch and dinner are served daily and it's Happy Hour from 3p-6p daily. Dinners are priced from USD8-16, Margaritas from USD5-7. Live music is featured on Saturday evenings.
Year after year, Shugrue's Hillside Grill is awarded the distinction of being Sedona's superior seafood and fine dining restaurant. There is also good news for steak-lovers—the beef is hand cut for top quality. Located in the Hillside Sedona complex, it is a casually upscale restaurant, not a jacket and tie kind of place. The outdoor patio is even more informal in feel. On weekends, live jazz music is performed.
Often voted "best steaks and ribs," this Western-styled steakhouse and saloon, housed in an early 1900s structure and formerly called a "Steakhouse & Saloon", is the oldest watering hole in town. Prime rib is a favorite, along with large-portioned Angus steaks. Baby back ribs, chicken, trout, shrimp, burgers and a few Mexican items round out the menu. Full bar service is available. Also offered is scenic patio dining, live country music on weekends, horseshoe pits, pool tables and big screen televisions.
