This Gothic style church was built circa 1866 by architect Ludwick Reidinger. St. Mary Catholic Church was established to cater to the German immigrants as the area was getting overcrowded with them and only two other churches were accommodating German speaking people. Though it is not as ornate as other Gothic structures, its stained glass windows and vaulted doorways reflects this type of architecture beautifully. St. Mary is the oldest of its kind in Evansville and offers a peaceful retreat to anyone who visits its sanctuary. The church is also known for its worship.
