»Trombone Shorty

December 27, 2014 8:30 PM

Troy Andrews (aka Trombone Shorty) is a trombone and trumpet player from the New Orleans area who is known for his high-energy, quirky take on the jazz genre. From reworked versions of standards such as "When the Saints Go Marching In," to unlikely covers of rock and pop songs like AC/DC's "Back in Black" and Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On," he revels in bringing a bit of firecracker irreverence to what can often be a stuffy genre. Andrews attempts to make the audience feel like a part of the show by offering up call-and-response group vocals and encouraging everyone to clap and dance along. His feel-good style has gained prominence over recent years and in 2005, Andrews became a member of Lenny Kravitz's recording and performing horn section.

»George Winston

December 30, 2014

Pianist George Winston was born in Michigan and grew up in Miles City, Montana where he was inspired by blues, rock and jazz to learn how to play the organ. After hearing recordings of 1920s and 1930s stride pianists, he switched to acoustic piano in 1971 and focused on learning stride piano and folk piano. Only a year after he made the switch, Winston released his first solo piano album, Ballads and Blues, in 1972. Winston is well known for his charity work, including his 2001 album Remembrance- A Memorial Benefit, which benefited the people affected by the September 11 terrorist attacks, and Gulf Coast Blues & Impressions- A Hurricane Relief Benefit from 2006. With over ten solo albums under his belt, Winston continues to study the art of piano as well as guitar, continuously recording original compositions and covers of his favorite musicians.

»Super Diamond

January 03, 2015 9:00 PM

Neil Diamond (or, as he's lovingly referred to by his fans, The Jewish Elvis) is one of America's most iconic singer/songwriters. He has cranked out a respectable number of hit singles and has created a grandiose image for himself that fits perfectly with his music. Because Mr. Diamond is such a imposing and empowered individual, he rarely goes on tour and when he does, tickets are ridiculously overpriced and hard to come by. Because of this live music conundrum, a Neil Diamond cover band called Super Diamond has arisen to sustain the masses with their cravings for all things Neil. Formed in 1993, the cover band has honed its skills and with years and years of experience spent on the road dutifully reenacting classic Neil Diamond staples, the band is perfect if you're craving a Neil Diamond kick.
