A remote town in Oklahoma, Boise City made national headlines in 1943, when it was accidentally bombed by US forces engaged in a training exercise. Casualties of the incident were thankfully minimal, but the town remained the only place in the country to be bombed in World War II. A replica of a grenade and a crater standing outside the city's chamber of commerce commemorate the incident.
