    »Skrillex

    October 22, 2014 8:00 PM

Some musicians are a perfect reflection of the time, place and scene that they exist in. In the case of electronic producer Skrillex (real name: Sonny Moore), his sound manages to perfectly encapsulate the ever changing, and evolving, modern electronic scene that exists in America. By incorporating elements of glitch, dubstep, electronica, electro-house and other dance-friendly genres, Skrillex makes a unique style of music that is rarely boring and almost never lifeless. Born in 1988, Skrillex is a young producer who's eager to prove his worth amongst other well respected artists and if his debut 2010 album is any inclination of where he's heading, it's safe to say that he'll have a fairly successful future as an electronic producer.

    »Big Gigantic

    October 22, 2014 8:00 PM

Feeling the need to incorporate live instrumentation into the world of electronic music spurred Colorado-based multi-instrumentalist Dominic Lalli to create a musical project that would be just as engaging audibly as it would be visually. When Lalli decided to bring his drummer buddy Jeremy Salken into the mix, Big Gigantic was born. Releasing its first album, Fire it Up, in 2009, the duo established itself with a style of music that combines modern free-form electro with hip-hop beats to create an intelligent variety of danceable electronic music.

»Badfish, A Tribute To Sublime w/ The Danbees

    October 23, 2014 9:00 PM

Bradley Nowell, lead singer/songwriter for the seminal band Sublime, may have died prematurely, but the soul-filled music he wrote for Sublime lives on because of Badfish: A Tribute To Sublime. The members met while attending the University of Rhode Island in 2001; five years after Nowell's passing. The trio plays all of Sublime's timeless songs like "Santeria" and "Wrong Way." When the members of Badfish feel the urge to write original songs they perform them in the group Scotty Don't.

    »You Me At Six

    October 23, 2014 6:00 PM

Many consider music that comes from the pop punk genre to be an amalgamation of all that is evil in this world. The worlds of punk and pop are nearly polar opposites and combining the two is pretty much an oxymoron. But some musicians insist that by blending the two styles of music is high art, or at least art that can be shoddily put together and packaged for an audience. One group banking on the success of pop punk is the English group You Me At Six. The band was formed in 2004 and despite critics calling them a group that makes music well suited for intellectual peons, You Me At Six continues to soldier on and tour in support of its albums.
