Mesa Verde National Park is an archaeological site designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a U.S. National Park. Founded by President Theodore Roosevelt, it is the largest archaeological preserve in the country and is also included in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. At Mesa Verde, people can visit the incredibly well-preserved ruins of the cliff dwellings of the ancient Pueblo people, also known as the Anasazi, which date back to 400 CE.
