Built in 2005, this family friendly baseball field is a favorite summertime destination for locals. Sitting right next to the bay with views of the Harbor Bridge, every seat is a good seat. Reminiscent of old-fashioned fields from baseball's golden age, the facility offers some very thoughtful and modern features. All concession stands are designed so that patrons never have their back to the field and never miss a play. The kids play area features a play ground, scaled down baseball diamond and full sized basketball court. There's even a pool overlooking the field available for groups and parties. Don't forget to stop by the gift shop to pick up your own official Hooks gear.
Located at the northern end of Shoreline Boulevard, this park contains a large part of the city's attractions, all in one convenient place. Here you will find the South Texas Museum of Art with it's iconic pyramid structures on the roof; the American Bank Center where all the big names come to give concerts; the Harbor Playhouse, the Harbor Playhouse and the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History. Also in the summer the Watergarden pumps water all around the entire circular structure and is a welcome retreat from the sweltering heat.
Meet and connect with free dolphins in their natural habitat. Being the only place in Texas for free dolphin interaction, Dolphin Connection is well worth the 25 minute drive from Corpus Christi. These playful and highly curious creatures usually swim just out of reach. The owners have come to know more than 200 dolphins living in the bay. The guides simply love what they do, and are as passionate about dolphins. All in all, an unforgettable encounter.
One of the cities main attractions, the Texas State Aquarium is a family favorite. Located on Corpus Christi Bay right next to the entrance to the USS Lexington, the aquarium is a great refuge from the heat of a typical Texas summer day. This retired aircraft carrier was once used as a training facility but is now a floating museum. Resting pleasantly on Corpus Christi Bay, this impressive ship is a sight to see from the coast. There is a free shuttle that takes you from land all the way up a long ramp to the ships hangar entrance. Aboard the ship you will be able to explore the flight deck, the control and navigation rooms and even the captain's quarters. Also on the ship is an extensive World War II and Pearl Harbor exhibit. Be sure to drop by the theater to catch some authentic military footage and exceptional documentaries. The gift shop is a must for souvenirs and military memorabilia.
