The First Presbyterian Church is an eloquent and celebrated church structure in Columbia, South Carolina. It was built in 1850s and still stands stern even today. The Church strives and reaches varied neighborhoods through the entire Columbia. Carrying great historic importance, the church has also featured in the National Register of Historic Places.
Post American Revolution, a group of Columbians felt the need to establish a parish and hence, the Episcopal parish was built. In 1847, it was consecrated and Edward Brickell White was commissioned to design a newer edifice. Visitors can explore various fixtures within the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral that include baptismal font, Carrara altar and marble tablets inscribed with religious texts. Notable personalities buried in the churchyard include General Wade Hampton, General Peter Horry and Dr. Thomas Cooper.
