From a modest beginning as Valparaiso Little Theatre Guild to a full-fledged theater, Chicago Street Theatre has made a mark in the performing arts scene of Indiana. This intimate theater, which has a seating capacity for 130 spectators, offers a repertoire of dramas and musicals that are scheduled throughout the year. Owing to its extensive renovation in 2008, the auditorium is fitted with state-of-the-art sound and light technology which enhances the fun of watch the stellar performances of the artists. A stadium that has been the home of Valparaiso University's football events since 1919, the Brown Field is a prominent sports facility in then city of Valparaiso. Though primarily used for football matches of the Valparaiso Crusaders, the stadium also is used for soccer and other athletic events of the university's athletics department. Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa will host the ultimate beer sampling event, Blue Chip Brewfest, on Saturday, April 14 from 1-5 pm in the Stardust Event Center. More than 120 specialty brews from more than 30 breweries will be available to taste, including selections from Abita Brewing, Anchor Brewing Company, Back Road, Bare Hands, Bells Brewery, Blue Moon Brewing, The Boston Beer Company, Brooklyn Brewery, Bulldog Brewing Company, Four Horsemen Brewing Company, Harpoon Brewery, Leinenkugel Brewing Company, New Belgium, New Holland and Upland. Blue Chip will hold a silent auction during the show for premium items such as a mini-fridge, coolers and other beer-themed collectibles. Proceeds will benefit the United Way of LaPorte County. Food offerings available for purchase at the event will include brats, hot dogs, nachos and pretzels. All of the Blue Chip restaurants will be open. VIP ticket holders can attend a private tasting and beer and food pairing presentations from brewmasters from noon to 1 p.m. in the Orleans Ballroom and will also receive a bottle opener, pint glass, pint glass lanyard and t-shirt. Guests with a regular admission ticket will receive a pint glass. Guests with designated driver tickets will receive a pint glass, t-shirt and soft drinks, but are not allowed to sample beer.
