»Bailly Homestead and Chellberg Farm

These two properties are maintained by the Indian Dunes National Lakeshore. Bailly Homestead was the home of one of Porter County's earliest settlers, French-Canadian voyageur and fur trader Joseph Bailly. Chellberg Farm is an early 20th century, 80 acre working farm established in 1874 by Swedish immigrants Anders and Johanna Kjellberg.

»Joseph Bailly Homestead

Joseph Bailly Homestead is a part of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in Porter, IN. Located on Mineral Springs Road, the Bailly Homestead is one of the many attractions that are located inside the national park. This home, built in the 1800s, was the residence of Joseph Aubert de Gaspé Bailly de Messein, one of the first non-native settlers in Indiana. The two-story home includes a summer kitchen, a storehouse, a brickhouse and a cemetery, which likes less than mile's hike from the house. Operated by the National Park Service, the Bailly Homestead is open to tours.

»Josephus Wolf House

Built back in 1875, the Josephus Wolf House is a Victorian Italianate Mansion. Its enormous area spreads across 4500 acres (1800 hectares). It consists of 18 rooms featuring red oak flooring. The house has distinct features. A prime facet is the front veranda on the west region. In the interiors, The Great Room is a distinctive highlight which covers the entire width of the house. It is a great venue for private functions. The managers provide a tour of the house and the outdoor setting which includes tents, chairs and tables.

»Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation

This department is responsible for 19 different park lands representing both community and neighborhood parks and also diverse, year-round program opportunities for all ages. Be sure to visit the botanical garden. Ogden Gardens is four acres of flowerbeds with an adjoining ten acres of picnic areas. Included are a Japanese garden with a koi pond, and a wedding gazebo. Flowerbeds include annual and perennial displays as well as spring bulbs and flowering trees.
