Home of the Westchester Township History Museum, the 16-room Queen Anne-style Brown Mansion is open for tours Wednesday through Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. or by appointment. The Brown Mansion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
These two properties are maintained by the Indian Dunes National Lakeshore. Bailly Homestead was the home of one of Porter County's earliest settlers, French-Canadian voyageur and fur trader Joseph Bailly. Chellberg Farm is an early 20th century, 80 acre working farm established in 1874 by Swedish immigrants Anders and Johanna Kjellberg.
Joseph Bailly Homestead is a part of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in Porter, IN. Located on Mineral Springs Road, the Bailly Homestead is one of the many attractions that are located inside the national park. This home, built in the 1800s, was the residence of Joseph Aubert de Gaspé Bailly de Messein, one of the first non-native settlers in Indiana. The two-story home includes a summer kitchen, a storehouse, a brickhouse and a cemetery, which likes less than mile's hike from the house. Operated by the National Park Service, the Bailly Homestead is open to tours.
This beautiful, ancient, primitive, and unique park called the Indiana Dunes State Park is spread over a land of 2,182 acres. Popular among the scientists and nature freaks, the value of this park is worth a visit. Featuring different species of plants and animals this park is also features a lake which exhibits a great variety of aquatic species too.
With the Salt Creek running through its heart Imagination Glen Park is a beautiful patch of nature located not far from the city center. While there are baseball fields and other sports facilities on one end of the park, Imagination Glen is more popular for its trails that take you through stunning natural landscapes. Bikers will find a fair amount of challenge on the trail that skirts the river while walkers can revel in the picturesque sylvan locales.

Built back in 1875, the Josephus Wolf House is a Victorian Italianate Mansion. Its enormous area spreads across 4500 acres (1800 hectares). It consists of 18 rooms featuring red oak flooring. The house has distinct features. A prime facet is the front veranda on the west region. In the interiors, The Great Room is a distinctive highlight which covers the entire width of the house. It is a great venue for private functions. The managers provide a tour of the house and the outdoor setting which includes tents, chairs and tables.
This department is responsible for 19 different park lands representing both community and neighborhood parks and also diverse, year-round program opportunities for all ages. Be sure to visit the botanical garden. Ogden Gardens is four acres of flowerbeds with an adjoining ten acres of picnic areas. Included are a Japanese garden with a koi pond, and a wedding gazebo. Flowerbeds include annual and perennial displays as well as spring bulbs and flowering trees.
Valparaiso's Immanuel Lutheran Church had its beginnings in 1862, when a number of German families founded the congregation, and the structure itself was erected in 1891. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, the church organizes various charitable events throughout the year.
