Crazyweed Kitchen has recently re-marketed itself as an uptown dining destination. It's a cute lunch destination, with a patio for lazy afternoon dining, and the dinner menu is varied, offering samples of Thai, Korean and local cuisine. Their wood oven fired pizza is a popular choice, regardless of when you're dining; try Bella's pizza, a mouthwatering combination of rosemary crusted potatoes, portabello mushrooms and charred onions.
As Canmore's only brewpub, this mountain lodge restaurant holds a special place in the hearts of Canmore's visitors. The brewery boasts six cold and fresh draft beers with charming names like Drooling Moose Pilsner and Grumpy Bear Honey Wheat. The menu offers a selection of casual fare featuring burgers, pizzas, steaks, ribs, pastas, and the sort of finger foods that beg to be washed down with more ale. The huge patio is complete with a beautiful stone fireplace and is a popular spot for an outdoor Drooling Moose. And don't forget their Monday to Friday Happy Hour, the perfect time to get in cheap drinks with the locals.
This gem, which can be found just off Main Street in downtown Canmore, is one of the Bow Valley's best kept secrets. The bistro serves up filling cafeteria-style dishes that are fresh, tasty and startlingly inexpensive. Their menu has a decidedly French slant with items like quiches, Croque Monsieurs and Madames and creamy soups. The sandwiches are a big draw with fillings like curried chicken and pineapple and capicolli ham with artichoke.
This spacious bar and restaurant has all the amenities you would expect in a pub: wooden stools, comfy booths, pool tables, foosball, big-screen televisions and dartboards. There is also a wide selection of beer and spirits. The menu includes pub favorites such as burgers, steak and kidney pie, fish and chips and a variety of greasy finger foods like chicken wings and calamari. On occasion, live bands make the place even more festive. The Rose and Crown is an ideal spot to quench a mountain-sized thirst.
This tiny restaurant on Canmore's Main Street offers visitors a taste of classic Italian dishes. All the favorites are here, such as Chicken Cacciatore and Veal Parmigiana. Lucia does pastas, of course, and you can mix-and-match your noodles with your sauce. The pizza menu offers a wide selection of toppings. The decor is rather nondescript, but the room is small and cozy. Lucia is open for dinner only, and delivery and take out are available.
This log-cabin restaurant and bar has been offering mountain comfort to guests for almost one hundred years. Pull a stool up to the bar, or settle into a couch near the fireplace for an authentic alpine meal. It's kitchen features local cuisine, including Alberta beef, huge buffalo steaks, venison, ostrich, rainbow trout and bison ribs. Less carnivorous appetites will enjoy pizza, pastas or fondue, as well as a selection of soups, salads and sandwiches. There is a weekend brunch and occasional live music or dinner theatre.
This child-friendly eatery is a perfect place for a casual family meal. Faros' menu features Greek and Italian cuisine with dinners of pastas, mousaka, spanakopita, lamb, fish and chicken dishes and a selection of tasty appetizers. The lunch features a lighter fare. Faros also bakes a fine pizza and the children's menu means that the kids can find something they can recognize and pronounce.
