A refreshing addition to the restaurant scene in Calgary, the 7 Seas Seafood & Grill Restaurant takes the best flavors of Filipino cuisine and marries it with North American favorites. Lobster, shrimp, halibut and other seafood are on their menu, but so are must-tries like tamarind pork or beef soup, grilled milkfish or tilapia, and the classic Filipino adobo. 7 Seas Seafood and Grill is a great way to learn about cuisine from the Philippines for those clueless as to what to eat when traveling to the islands.
On weekend nights, the waiting crowd spills out to the parking lot, anxious to exercise their guilty dining pleasures. The contemporary menu offers a wide range of selections from pasta to burgers, but just about everyone saves tummy room for one of the over-sized dessert items, of which there are countless choices at good prices. Come dessert time, seasoned visitors spring up from their tables and carefully choose from the many cheesecakes, pies and puddings chilling inside a glass display case near the entrance. The portions are huge, with take-home containers readily available.
Leo Fu's Szechwan and Madarin Restaurant specialty is their special beef, which they say, lies in the fact that they only deep-fry the beef for seconds before adding generous spices and sauce. Although the setting is casual dining, the food is definitely not. Their dining room seats about 65 people, and the service is fast and efficient. They specialize in oriental cuisine and offer a dozen different types of noodle preparations. They are licensed for beer and wine and offer take-out.
Restaurants come and go, but the Keg chain has been around for more than a generation as a reliable place for a good steak, devoid of the stuffiness of more traditional steakhouses. Known for a casual atmosphere, table help who insist you know their names and big salad bars, this particular outlet holds true to form. It is set in what looks to passersby like a classic Western ranch house and carries that homey (though bustling) feel inside. Alberta prides itself on its beef, and that's the mainstay of the menu, with filet mignon, New York cuts and prime rib, all at moderate prices. There are two more Keg outlets in Calgary, plus two in Banff.
A staple in the Calgary restaurant scene for many years, Smugglers is close to shopping, banking and business centers of the city. They specialize in prime rib steak, using only Alberta beef but also offer other selections. For instance, you can order barbecued baby back ribs or flame roasted chicken and lobster. Beer and wine are available as well. The décor is dark and rich, surrounded by beautiful hardwood floors. There are a number of cozy chairs arranged around their ubiquitous fireplaces or you can take a seat at the bar.

Watch any movie or television show, the one thing that brings people together is food. Not just on television but even in everyday lives we get together with family and friends over a meal. Boston Pizza is a joint that makes that experience much better. Not just focusing on pizzas, this eatery offers everything from pasta to burgers to salads. Chicken wing-lovers will be happy to know that this joint has come up with a new kind of ‘all meat’ chicken wings; boneless, light and delicious. It pays special attention to its little customers with a special Kids menu designed to please even the fussiest of eaters. They also offer vegetarian options for the non-meat eaters.
There seems to be a number of Vietnamese and Thai restaurants springing up in the city, but the Bagolac Saigon Restaurant is arguably one of the best. Located near Chinook Center, it is a quaint little restaurant that seats approximately 95 people. The atmosphere is bustling, and the service is quick and friendly. Lunchtimes are busy, so if you don't want to stand in line, get there early. The Bagolac offers over 150 Thai items ranging from beef to seafood, as well as several Vietnamese desserts and specialty coffees.
Like an old friend, this unassuming place located just east of Chinook Centre has been offering comfort food to Calgarians for a long time. You can get a cornucopia of fresh food items here as well as fast food, meats from the deli and an array of cheeses and fresh salads. And you can order homemade ice cream and gelato while you await your food order. Il Centro offers pizza, lasagna and spaghetti as well as great deli meats that they're happy to wrap for you to take home.
The Santa Fe Grill offers delicious, nutritious Tex-Mex for adults and children. Your kids will love the choices on their own menu, and the waitresses are quick to bring plenty of crayons. The adults can sit back and enjoy a real fruit margarita or choose a shot from the largest selection of tequila in Calgary. While many patrons enjoy the outdoor patio during the warmer months, inside there are plenty of tables and booths. The delicious home-made tortillas and tacos win raves from diners, as well as the steak, chicken and Mexican rice.

There is ample free parking in front of the restaurant. O'Sullivan's is a typical English Pub where casual attire and attitude is welcomed. You can sit back and enjoy or take part in their karaoke parties on Friday and Saturday nights. The menu features nachos, chicken wings and vegetable wraps.
