    The Oak Ridge Boys

    619 Louisiana Avenue
    Shreveport, LA 71101
Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, The Oak Ridge Boys is a bastion of Southern gospel and country music history. Known to many as the backing group for the 1960s performances by Elvis Presley and for a single they recorded with Johnny Cash when the band first got started in the 1940s and 1950s, the band slowly became known for its Southern gospel sound. As the decades ticked away, The Oak Ridge Boys adopted a country music sound and rose to fame during the 1980s with some of its most well-known hits such as 1981's "Elvira," 1982's "Bobbie Sue" and "American Made" from 1983. Though the band has experienced several lineup changes in its 60-plus year career, the group continues to bring its old classics to new generations of fans.

Lee Fields & The Expressions Featuring Seratones
    Bear's Restaurant & Sports BarSeptember 23, 2014 9:00 PM
    1401 Fairfield Avenue
    Shreveport, LA 71101
Part of Brooklyn's thriving soul revival scene kicked into full gear by Daptone Records, Lee Fields and the Expressions was forged by Truth & Soul record heads who wanted to create a "sweet soul" album modeled after hit bands of the 1960s. To do this, they called upon legendary funk singer from the 1970s Lee Fields and a few locally respected studio musicians who all laid down the band's first single "Do You Love Me," which immediately secured the band a prominent spot in the modern soul world. While Fields and the Expressions have often split to do duets with other celebrated acts like Sharon Jones and Naomi Shelton, the band always regroups to create pitch-perfect soul.

Though several circus companies have decided to modernize and update their shows with high-tech flourishes and cutting edge special effects, the Shrine Circus has chosen to stay true to its roots with a show fashioned in the same vein as its performances from the early 20th Century. Featuring all the classic circus fare from wacky clowns to daredevil tightrope walkers, the company hosts productions suited for all ages. Typically performed within the confines of a single ring, opposed to a more extravagant three-ring circus, the Shrine Circus gives attendees an opportunity to appreciate and take in every moment of circus excitement.

    Peter Frampton
Shreveport Municipal Memorial AuditoriumSeptember 26, 2014 7:30 PM
    705 Elvis Presley Boulevard
    Shreveport, LA 71101
Peter Frampton enjoyed the majority of his musical success in the 1970s, but he started making music in the 1960s and continues to this day. Frampton is perhaps best known for his guitar skills and crisp vocals, both of which are as good today as they once were. He may not be a British teen-idol anymore, but he still puts on a good show.
