A great place to learn about the history and the role of richmond during the Civil War, the Battle of Richmond Visitors Center is the perfect place to start. The center itself is to be found at the Rogers House, a historic home built in 1811. One of the most important battles to be fought, the center gives us a great understanding of the Battle of Richmond (1862) though audio visuals, interactive exhibits and artifacts.

Tours are provided to give you better insight into the history of the place and its significance. There is also a quaint museum in this compound to give you more practical information about these wars. The staff is very well-trained and friendly. The monumental site of White Hall was constructed in the year 1798. It comprehensively encompasses a land cover of 13.6 acres (5.5 hectares). It stood as a home to the prominent Cassius Marcellus Clay, who was a politician, soldier and an anti-slavery newspaper publisher. The Hall is predominantly a 44-room mansion. The structure gracefully traces the Italianate and the Georgian styles of architecture. The site has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the year 1971.
