The Spindletop - Gladys City Boomtown Museum is a tribute to this discovery which was the catalyst in turning Texxas into the state it is today with its rich oil fields. The museum has a replica of the gusher on Spindletop as well as the oil derricks there which were made of wood. Sometimes, the museum switched it on so that a jet of water shoots upwards, commemorating the similar occurrence in Spindletop.
