This Romanesque courthouse features a beautiful clock tower. The building was made famous by Laura Ingalls Wilder, who mentioned the Courthouse in her diary in 1894. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This library houses the 3000 volume Nebraska State Genealogical Society Collection, the D.A.R. Lineage Books and materials from the Southeast Nebraska Genealogical Society collection. The Library is also a site of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum featuring rare trees and a wildflower and prairie grass garden.
Homestead National Monument of America is a symbolic celebration of the Homestead Act of 1862. This Act completely transformed the lives of Americans forever, it facilitated a qualified citizen to claim a certain amount of federal land and in return he will maintain and cultivate that land for five years. Here, visitors can explore the Heritage Center, Palmer-Epard Cabin and Education Center.
