The University of Arkansas is a public research university based out of Fayetteville, Arkansas that was founded in 1871. The Razorbacks are the sports teams that compete for the school in the NCAA Division I Southeastern Conference. Originally called the Cardinals, the student/teacher body voted to change the sports teams name to the Razorbacks in 1910. Though the university's athletic department hosts a number of varied teams, it is probably best known for its football, basketball and baseball teams.
The Oklahoma Sooners represents the athletic programs and various teams that compete for the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. The teams' name comes from the term used to describe the start-line jumping participants of the Oklahoma Indian Territory land rushes for non-Indian settlement. The school's teams play in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I-A, in the Big 12 Conference.
