North Beach Bistro is an unassuming restaurant due its location in a strip mall. Housed in a former steakhouse, the restaurant will surprise you in a pleasant way with its rich woody interiors, open kitchen and sublime food using fresh and organic produces. If you want to go for the Tapas fare, then indulge in the delightful dishes such as Calypso crusted mahi mahi and bistro fish bites. Or for dinner try the veal Osso Buco, Coq au Vin and fisherman's stew. The restaurant serves lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. When the three sisters, namely Lynda, Michelle, Mary Jane and Áine migrated to United States, they brought the rich Irish cuisine with them and started the Culhane's Irish Pub. With such a great team of Irish owners/chefs, you are sure of the authenticity of the food served here. Dishes prepared at Culhane's are made in the traditional Irish cooking ways and there is no compromise on quality. Such is the popularity of this place, that it has even featured on national television. The fun and lively atmosphere here is simply an added bonus. Ocean 60 is a beautiful restaurant serving exciting contemporary fare with an Island dash. The menu is an inspiration from all the world travels the chef owner had taken and is like a tribute to them. Changing seasonally, the menu is vast and delectable. Offering a two in one dining experience, the main dining room is cozy and has a wine bar with Enrique Mora, a local artist's lovely paintings adorning the walls. The connecting Martini Room has a rich woody look with imported furnishings and local paintings on the walls, it is more like a rotating gallery as every quarter a new artist is represented here. Giving a different look to the room every time. While you enjoy an intimate dinner at the main room, the Martini Room is buzzing with live music from Thursday through Saturday along with fabulous food and great drinks. The restaurant is available for private and corporate events and also caters. Reservations are highly recommended.
This spot could be straight out of the 1950s. There is a trendy cigar room here, a full bar, and live music keeps the party jumping every night with the area's best rock and jazz bands. Standard diner fare is on tap, including crispy onion rings, big and juicy hamburgers, and thick milkshakes. They also serve seafood, steak, and chicken dishes, and generous sandwiches like turkey Reubens and heroes. A lively happy hour is from 11a-7p.
Pete's Bar has been a beach institution for more than 70 years, and is a favorite hangout for locals and visitors alike. No-frills is the key word for this pool hall and tavern. Assorted seating is available next to the pool tables and at the bar, but most folks choose to stand; it's easier to mingle. You can't miss this place with the huge "Eat at Joe's" sign visible from blocks away. Sporting a bright blue-and-red-trimmed exterior and a boardwalk ramp that leads up to front door, the restaurant focuses on seafood selections with a few landlubber options. There's a full bar and a limited selection of beer and wine. Seafood is the main catch from grouper prepared with craw fish sauce to fried or grilled shrimp. You can request your fish or seafood dish the way you want it—blackened, grilled, broiled, fried or lemon peppered.
