Kid boredom has a cure: it is The Health Adventure located at Pack Place right in the heart of Asheville. Exhibits, science camps, and much more, The Health Adventure strives to combine fun and learning for kids of all ages. Group visits are welcome and can be scheduled by calling the main office.
Whether you're an experienced mountain climber or just curious, this indoor/outdoor climbing gym will provide a couple of hours of fun and exercise for all ages. The facility, located on historic and charming Wall Street, offers cracks, overhangs, lead walls roofs and boulders with a 225-foot traverse and gravity-defying cafe. There is also a 40-foot competition wall.
Kids can spend the day at this nature center learning and having fun! Along with deer, foxes and bears, the most recent additions are the red and grey wolves and the bobcats and cougars. More recent improvements also include the "hands on" Nature Lab and Educational Farm where kids can pet a corn snake or even hold a turtle.
Pack Place sits in the very heart of downtown, across the bustling street from the Vance Monument. This $14 million facility is home to four wonderful museums and the Diana Wortham Theater. From The Health Adventure, which brings educational activities to children of all ages, to an abundance of glorious art for patrons to view and ponder, a wealth of activity and fun awaits all guests. Admission is charged and varies depending on which activity you attend. Multi-museum passes are available.
Asheville has its abundant wildlife and trout infested streams and Asheville Drifters offers amazing packages to suit your fishing needs all over North Carolina and Tennesse. The Appalachian Trail is a marked walking trail that begins in Maine and ends in Georgia and is used by anyone looking to take a short, intermediate or long hike. Trailbooks can be purchased in local bookstores such as Malaprop's in downtown Asheville. A popular trip is to Clingman's Dome, the second highest peak in the area which rises 6,643 feet and is located long the state-line ridge of North Carolina and Tennessee. You can drive close to this point and then walk the last half-mile.

Want to try white water rafting? Are you hesitant because you're a beginner? Then here is the opportunity you've been waiting for. Huck Finn Adventures is a small outfitting company that takes special care to make sure rafting trips are safe and fun. Spend a half day (3 hours) or full day (5 hours) rafting down the French Broad River. Float trips, sunset tours and overnighters are also available. Open seven days a week, Mar 1 through Oct 31, but reservations can be be made anytime of the year.

Open year round to the public. This 18 hole, par 72 championship course was designed by Karl Litten in the Scottish links style. The clubhouse features a restaurant and grill room and can accommodate business meetings and group events. Set among the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and the French Broad River Valley, you will find Broadmoor, a links style course that can play from 5,600 to over 7,000 yards.
This driving range is fully lighted for night use and includes 28 mat tees with six covered for practice and lessons in inclement weather, a ten acre landing area, and a two acre short game practice area. Other features on site include a fully stocked pro shop, an 18 hole miniature golf course, a snack bar, batting cages, and a picnic pavilion.
