Hart Senate Office Building
Su to Sa from 08:00 AM to 06:00 PMWhat was first considered an extension of the Dirksen Senate Office building, consisting of a nine-story addition and over one million square feet of interior space, The Hart Senate Office Building quickly became its own entity upon completion. The building, the last of the four Senate offices, was constructed in 1976 and included suites for 50 Senators, 3-floor garage, a mechanical equipment floor and a light-filled atrium to use more energy-efficient methods for lighting. The building was named after former Senator Philip A. Hart from Michigan, who was an ardent supporter of the Civil Right Act of 1964. The Hart Senate Office is less impressive architecturally than its counterparts but is still worth a visit for politic buffs and historians.
