»Metro Richmond Zoo

Bored and looking for something to do that would delight the kids? Take them to Metro Richmond Zoo, located at Chesterfield County, Virginia. This privately owned zoo is spread over 70 acres and has  around 1,400 animals representing over 150 species, including the reticulated giraffe, white rhinoceros, snow leopard, cheetah and Grant's zebra. Almost all of the areas of the zoos are accessible to the public except for the Malayan tapirs and demoiselle cranes enclosures.

»Manakin Episcopal Church

The Manakin Episcopal Church was built in 1700 by French Huguenots who had settled in the region. In its long history, the church building was damaged and moved many times. It was destroyed during the Civil War and then restored using the parts recovered from the original structure. Built by Lawson & Newton, the current church is a Late Gothic Revival structure. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

»Adventure Park at Sandy River Retreat

Have an adventure at the Adventure Park at Sandy River Retreat. There are 48 Obstacle high ropes course with 11 zip lines. This tree top adventure park is the largest in central Virginia and is perfect for ages 7 and up. There are four different courses in the park, including a black diamond course that is 45 feet up and has very challenging obstacles and a 400 feet (122 meters) zip line. There is a combination of obstacles like swinging bridges, logs, tight rope walks, tunnels and cargo nets as well as zip lines. This park is a great family bonding experience, or challenge yourself physically and mentally, for three hours hanging in the tree tops!

»Great Wolf Lodge

The Great Wolf Lodge is a perfect place for a fun day out with the family. There is a lot to do here starting with the crazy water slides, rides and a tech centre. The main attraction here is the Fort Mackenzie which is a tree fountain which features 12 levels of fun and excitement. Great Wolf Lodge also has a fitness room as well as Magic Quest: a treasure hunt styled themed room which is very interactive and fun. Adults can try their hand at rock climbing as well as car racing after which they can cool off in the hot springs.
