»Arnold and Marie Schwartz Athletic Center

Built in 1928 by Paramount Studios, this movie theater seated 4,124 but was closed in 1962. Now it serves as a gymnasium for the Long Island University. The building has lost some of the original look but still contains the original Wurlitzer organ. Several concerts are held here every year and feature prominent organists brought together by the Theater Organ Society of New York, which maintains the Wurlitzer. Originally called the Brooklyn Paramount Theater, it was owes its present name to the benefactors who funded its refurbishment.
