»Hermans Hermits

November 21, 2014 8:00 PM

With a clean cut image that was cultivated by the band's manager, Mickie Most, the English pop group Herman's Hermits managed to become one of the more popular bands of the British Invasion scene in the 1960s. Though the group's oftentimes trite sound limited its musical flexibility, Herman's Hermits nevertheless still grew into a popular act of its generation with hit singles like "I'm Into Something Good." Herman's Hermits popularity faded tremendously by the 1970s, but it didn't stop the members in the band from touring fairly regularly, and to this day, after nearly four decades of existence, the group is still performing its characteristic style of British pop to audiences around the world.

Although world famous, Harlem may be New York's best kept secret with some of the city's most interesting architecture, food, music and people.  Harlem's history is also one of the city's most dramatic, having gone through many ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic changes over the past roughly 400 years, which have resulted in a diverse array of places of worship, theaters, homes and eating establishments.   Join Free Tours by Foot uptown on this two hour tour and discover the streets where Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and other cutting edge Harlem Renaissance players put American music on the world map, where Cassius Clay became Muhammad Ali and where Fidel Castro slept after being kicked out of a midtown hotel for having chickens in his room.  Come hungry, if you want to treat yourself to some great soul food!Sites we cover on the tour:Absynninian ChurchShomburg Center for Research in Black CultureApollo TheaterChurch Mt.
